HOTH began operation with six children in April 2006. We now serve approximately forty students at the historic Hagemann Farm in the heart of Livermore with over forty families waiting for the opportunity to participate in our program. To meet the growing need in our community we are seeking sponsorships at all giving levels to expand and develop therapeutic riding programs.

♥  Contribute to our Covered Therapy Space Fund

Our most pressing need at this time is a covered therapy space. The hot Livermore summers and rainy winters make lessons in an outside arena prohibitive for clients with fragile health conditions. We estimate the total cost of such a space will be in excess of $150,000. We welcome all donations to this large capital campaign.

♥  Provide Student Scholarships

Imagine the joy and sense of accomplishment felt by an individual with disabilities sitting astride and controlling a horse! What an empowering experience! At HOTHARC we provide recreational, therapeutic horseback riding for people with academic, physical and /or emotional disabilities. Horseback riding is one of the few exercises available to the disabled population. This unique experience gives these individuals a chance to strengthen and relax muscles, improve muscle tone, increase joint mobility, improve balance, posture and coordination. Learning becomes fun and interesting while mounted on a gentle therapy horse. Self confidence and self-reliance soar.

Programs at HOTHARC are individualized based upon the student’s needs and abilities and include:

  • Ground Lessons
  • Mounted Lessons
  • Equine Facilitated Social Skills
  • Summer Camps
  • Cart Driving
  • Horses for Heroes for Veterans

HOTH holds four or five sessions lasting eight to twelve weeks each year. Families pay approximately $900 each year, and for some this cost is prohibitive. You can help give the gift of therapeutic riding to a family in need by contributing your donation to our scholarship fund.

♥  Sponsor a Therapy Horse

Our eight therapy horses are our best and most important teachers. It costs approximately $2700.00 per year to feed and care for one of these special horses. You could help offset this expense and ensure the continued health and comfort of our special friends.
